Alexander Van de Rostyne
Winner of the industry Innovation award in Japan and toy of the year in many countries, the 10 gram helicopter that Alexander designed has been a game changer, not only for the toy industry, but also was a precursor to the totally new drone market for recreation. It is the largest selling flying toy in the world, with over 30 million official legal units sold, and many more copies.
Alexander’s passion for and affair with radio controlled airplanes and helicopters led him to make this patented invention, which was finally licensed to a toy maker. In the meanwhile he has held down more mundane jobs such Director marketing for Apple in Europe, and a stint with Motorola!
He also started up and ran Planet Internet which grew into the biggest non incumbent Internet Service Provider in Belgium, led a web agency from near bankruptcy to exit, and is on the board of several internet start-ups.
Alexander embodies all the characteristics that KLIC talks about, passion, determination, out-of-the-box thinking, diversity and ultimately success … and we are thrilled to have him on board.
